Via Ferrata Angelo Viali/Sentiero Ezio Ferrari, Monte Gramolon

Grade: 3

Seriousness B

Departure point: Rifugio Bertagnoli, 1250m

Ascent: 650m

Descent: 650m

Via ferrata: 250m

Approximate time: 4 hours

Highest altitude: 1814m, Monte Gramolon

Whilst the route is relatively close to the others in this section, it is approached up a different valley, Valle del Chiampo. This is not a problem if you are taking a hut-to-hut tour, since it is a fairly short walk from Rifs. Revolto and Scalorbi to Rif. Bertagnoli, the starting point. If you are based in Val d’Illasi, however, the drive over from Giazza takes about an hour. As a route from one valley to the other the local Forestry Office recommends driving via the SP17 (S. Andrea, S. Bortolo, to Bolca, then SP36b to Crespadoro and the SP43 to Campodalbero). A good (albeit narrow and windy) road continues right up to Rif. Bertagnoli, where there is ample parking.
